Book Description

This year the Aga celebrates its 80th Anniversary. No longer recognised simply as the best way to cook, Agas have also become style icons of the 21st Century. While still being a natural part of a classic country kitchen, they are also an object of desire for style-conscious modern urbanites. Devoted owners include Mel Gibson, Jamie Oliver and Ulrika Johnsson.

A new generation of Aga-owners have emerged, and the average age of a new Aga-purchaser is now under 35. Amy Willcock’s AGA Cooking reflects this and recognises the need for a contemporary Aga cookbook featuring fresh new recipe ideas from around the world and the old favourites, but with a modern twist.

  • Over 130 new recipes with step-by-step instructions
  • Colour photographs
  • How to adapt recipes originally devised for conventional cooking
  • Reference section on how to use your Aga
  • Fully endorsed by Aga-Rayburn

From the Publisher

AGA Cooking is the definitive Aga cookbook for a new generation, with healthy low fat options, cooking for children, contemporary world cuisine and seasonal advice including a chapter on Christmas cooking.

From the Inside Flap

Amy Willcock draws on her extensive experience of running Aga cookery courses to share all the essential secrets for getting the best out of your Aga. Starting with all the information you need to use your Aga, Aga Cooking shows you just how simple it is to cook with it and how to adapt recipes originally devised for conventional cooking. This book then reveals a full range of recipes for every occassion. In the Breakfast and Brunch chapter, you'll find recipes for Toasted Bagels with Smoked Salmon or Poached Apricots and Figs, plus the good old standbys such as porridge. The Family Food Chapter has plenty of ideas for quick and easy midweek meals, such as Stir-Fried Chicken with Noodles or Roasted Vegetable Pie, while the section on Chicken, Meat and Fish provide lots of suggestions for exciting dishes for entertaining, including Sea Bass Bake, Prawn and Pumpkin Curry, Green Thai Chicken, Baked Spare Ribs and Crispy Duck Pancakes. The Puddings and Cakes chapters are packed with tempting treats such as Panettone Pudding and Raspberry Souffle, Chocolate Fruit Cake and Apricot and Hazelnut Bread, and there's also a special section on food for children. Each recipe is easy-to-follow and includes conventional oven instructions.

From the Back Cover

Packed with ideas and hints, tips and techniques, Aga Cooking is the book no Aga owner should be without.

About the Author

Amy Willcock is the new face of Aga, a vivacious 34-year old ‘Yummy Mummy’, married with two young daughters. Born in Chicago, she moved to the UK with her family in 1980 and soon discovered a new form of oven – the ‘Aga’. Twenty years on, Amy wouldn’t dream of cooking on anything else!

Amy’s association with Aga began soon after she approached them about the lack of Aga demonstrators in her local area of Southwest England. Quickly qualifying to be an Aga instructor, she launched herself into the world of Aga cookery. For the past decade, Amy has conducted regular Lifestyle, Cookery and Aga Workshops at The George Hotel and at her home on the Isle of Wight. She also writes a monthly ‘Food and Lifestyle’ column for The Shooting Gazette, writes for Agalinks and the Aga magazine and is soon to become Good Housekeeping’s own Aga-expert. She demonstrates throughout the UK at events such as the BBC Good Food Show, the International Festival of Food and Wine and at The Daily Telegraph Spirit of Christmas at Olympia.
